Family Camp at Hartstone

We attended our first annual family camp with our church family over the extended 4th of July weekend. It was at Hartstone Bible Camp in Potter Valley, where I grew up going to junior camp, junior high camp, high school camp and was a counselor several times. Oh the memories! It was so fun to be able to go back there as a family and give my girls that treat. Each family had their own cabin or brought their own trailer to stay in. We opted for a cabin and it was so nice. Leyna kept calling it our new house. The girls had a blast, even though we all got sick over the weekend with some sort of sinus congestion/fever. We have had a pretty sickly summer so far, but it can only get better and we hope that we are not sick every other week for the rest of the summer. Some of our highlights were:
  • Awesome pastor testimonies each morning and night
  • Singing fun songs...before each meal we would all sing "Family camp at Hartstone is where I want to be, serving Christ my Savior while He teaches me" and then someone would add their own verse. This is the verse Katrina made up on her own "I was on the zipline having so much fun, then I ran into the tire and fell on my bum" I thought that was pretty good. She LOVED the zipline.
  • Archery
  • Swimming in the river and watching Shaylie, Garrett and Tomomi get baptized in the river by Pastor Mike (Robert)
  • Gutter Ball
  • Bingo
  • Playing Catan and Password with our good friends after we put the girls to bed
  • Eating yummy food that I didn't have to cook
  • Pendulum swings
All in all, it was such a fun weekend and we hope to make it an annual event for our family. It was so neat to be with a bunch of our church friends and their families enjoying the beautiful outdoors and admiring God's creation.
